This exceptional cross combines the particularly robust Gunung Raya form of N. tentaculata with a striking, orange-red N. edwardsiana. Although these seedlings are currently only about 4 cm in diameter, they are already exhibiting intense red pigmentation and conspicuous early peristome dentation.
The parentage offers considerable potential. N. edwardsiana contributes increased pitcher size, an elongated overall form, and strongly developed peristome ribs and teeth, while N. tentaculata imparts its characteristic ovate, strongly oblique pitcher opening and more compact peristome architecture. The Gunung Raya parent is especially noteworthy for its comparatively robust peristome, which complements the extreme dentation inherited from N. edwardsiana. The result should be a particularly distinctive combination of the two species: elongated, strongly colored pitchers with a well-defined ovate mouth and an unusually substantial, heavily dentate peristome.
Only a small number of seedlings from this cross are available, and as seed-grown individuals, each represents a genetically unique combination of these two remarkable species.
