This is an exciting three-species hybrid combining some of the most distinctive characteristics found in highland Nepenthes. N. × kinabaluensis brings together the massive pitcher potential of N. rajah with the heavy texture and strongly developed peristome teeth of N. villosa, while N. peltata adds an entirely different set of traits, including robust growth, heavy indumentum, intense coloration, and its characteristic peltate tendril attachment.

The possibilities in this cross are exceptional. We expect considerable variation among seedlings, with the potential for broad, substantial pitchers, thick and strongly ribbed peristomes, pronounced peristome teeth, and heavy hairiness. N. peltata is also well known for the striking red coloration that can occur on the undersides of its leaves, another trait that may appear in some offspring.
